Ship Management has institutionalized the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) aimed to efficiently monitor, manage and plan the maintenance of each vessel. The system is a fully integrated business process where the operations of the vessel are linked to the maintenance schedule and inventory / purchasing controls.
The company uses AMOS, a maintenance management system for the marine industry, integrating planned maintenance with spare parts control.
Systems and business processes established under the PMS are essential tools in ship management – providing factual reports on the current status of onboard maintenance, surveys, vessel documents, stock purchases and budgets. The system links with ship/shore communication where information is essentially shared between ships and land-based offices allowing office and onboard personnel to view maintenance work schedules, manage stores, and plan purchases for an optimized inventory.
In addition, the system is designed to define jobs to be performed regularly, define maintenance schedules and list the work and extraordinary maintenance to be done in the immediate future.
The Planned Maintenance System is designed to proactively manage the maintenance of vessels, resulting in efficient, cost-effective operations and maximized earnings for ship owners.
